Hope my roommates aren’t counting on me to support their AC habit

I have to admit that I’m a bit worried about my finances right now.

I don’t have the most stable source of income at my disposal and I know that there are always unexpectedly waiting round the next corner.

It can be difficult to feel like you aren’t 100% in control of your own finances. This is absolutely the case when it comes to my utility bills right now, because I’m splitting them with two roommates. I’m glad that we are splitting the bills together, but I worry that their energy usage is going to put me in the poorhouse. You see, my roommates appreciate the air conditioning system a lot more than I do in our house. I’m the sort of person who can get by with warm, stagnant indoor air most of the day. I really don’t mind having untreated indoor air throughout my work day because I tend to get cold when I’m sitting still. I don’t really need ice cold air passing through every air vent. It just gives me goosebumps and makes me cower under blankets rather than accomplish my difficult work tasks. However, my roommates feel the opposite. They always talk about how hot and muggy it is inside the house before they adjust the thermostat. I know that they rely heavily on the central cooling system. I want them to be comfortable in our shared home. However, I hope that they don’t expect me to evenly contribute to the extremely high energy bills that are headed our way. I’m not the one who controls the thermostat and I am unhappy with the low indoor air temperature most of the time. I hope they’re ready to cover the electricity.
