When I got married I never expected my life to be like this. I thought that I had found a real partner and we were going to work together for the rest of our lives. It turns out, I’m the only one who’s really interested in working at all. This is true when it comes to all matters in our relationship, our household, and even our financial situation. Back when we met, my husband was an amazing provider and I looked forward to his potential career as a heating and cooling technician. He was going to school to get his HVAC technician certification and to provide for our growing family. Then, he was injured one day at the local trade school during a routine air conditioning replacement and he never went back to work. He completely gave up on his ambitions to be an air quality control specialist or to do anything for our marriage. Since then, my husband has sat around on his butt and let me cover all of the bills. I’m in charge of everything from the water to the electricity to the heating and cooling expenses. The irony isn’t lost on me. Everyday for 5 years now he has sat in our house, abused the central heating and cooling system, and complains that the indoor air quality wasn’t very good. When I get home from work he hasn’t cleaned, cooked, or put his heating and cooling repairs to good use. Instead, he asks what I’m going to feed him and when I’m going to arrange a heating and cooling maintenance service. The man is absolutely insufferable and so is our indoor air quality. When I got married, I never thought that my indoor living would be so uncomfortable.
