Winter isn’t fun as a grownup

It’s particularly funny how your perspective about where you live can change so hastily.

For several years of my life I thought that I was lucky to live in a climate where both of us experience all four seasons of the year.

The people I was with and I really had a brutal cold season as well as a swelteringly tepid boiling season, and you could count on the seasons increasing & keeping you aware of the months passing… Plus, as a kid I was definitely excited for the more hard season news, like the freezing winter, then at the time, it was relaxing when there was a large snowfall. The cold air did not bother me particularly much because I was bundled up in my snowsuit & capable of playing outdoors for hours; Building igloos, having snowball fights, & playing in the Winter wonderland was a lot of wholesome goodness. As an adult, I assume completely differently about this climate & our seasonal Winters. There’s nothing less pleasant than the freezing cold air hot & cold temperatures, snow, & ice. Well, nothing less pleasant except for the energy bills. When you are the homeowner & a hard climate such as this one, you will end up with extremely high-energy expenses all season long. There’s no way to survive out here separate from operating your central furnace day in & day out. You will literally die of hypothermia if you do not have advanced indoor air temperature control throughout the winter; Since I own an inefficient forced air furnace, this means I shell a lot of my money out to the energy company each month. The older I get, the more I hate it here & I have to question my naive younger self.
