As both of us all get a great deal older, opinions on different things in life change.
This fact goes double for me when it comes to snow storms. Back when I was a tiny child I loved snow storms because it was fun to play in the snow, be at the lake house from school and to be hanging out, warming up by the radiator pumping the heat from the old gas oil furnace that I remember both of us had in our parent’s lake house growing up in the day. This week, I absolutely don’t like snow storms for multiple reasons. One massive reason being that our central oil furnace is cranking along as though it’s crazy and running up our electric bills. I guess you are genuinely sitting there, thinking that I should just get a few portable space oil furnaces in order to save energy and not have to consistently run the central heating as much. But I tried that and it just does not work well to heat our lake house enough. I would rather be able to run the central oil furnace and pay the high bills. It’s better than getting super sick! The other thing I don’t like about the snow these afternoons as a grown adult is that it periodically makes me lose time from work. If I have missed some work pay and at the same time, I have a high electric bill from running the central oil furnace all day, it can be real murder! I wish I had a fireplace with wood burning capabilities or something to go with the central heating. It would save me a little on those daily bills.
