Back when I was still in school, we had a lot of issues with the heating and cooling systems in the building.
The school that I went to was a really old building. As a matter of fact, it was the same high school that my grandparents went to when they were kids. There had not been very much updating done in the building over the decades, and the HVAC system really left a lot to be desired. I remember that my Geology classroom was one of the hottest places in the whole school. I had the bad luck to be seated at a table by the windows where the afternoon sun would come streaming in, heating up the room even more. The school had air conditioning in some of the classrooms, but not in that one. Worse yet, I would have class in there right after lunch when I was already sleepy. Our teacher would get so mad that students fell asleep that he would drop a pile of books on the floor with a loud bang just to scare everyone awake again. I remember thinking that out of all the classrooms in the school, this was the one that needed air conditioning the most! I often think about those days and how we would go from air conditioning to no air conditioning. It was a strange time to be in a school building, because sometimes you were freezing and wishing for a jacket, but other times you were sweating and falling asleep. The teacher in Geology probably should have thought about installing a window unit air conditioner in his classroom.
