Furnace breakdown was so loud, even son heard it over videogames

I swear to god, kids are not like they used to be. I actually have to worry about my son’s ability to fend for himself or survive in basic emergency situations at times. The problem is, he’s always so distracted. There’s rarely a moment that he isn’t staring at his phone or attached to his video game station. Those are the worst days of all – when he starts playing some new war game and you literally can’t get his attention if your life depended on it. Sometimes I think tornado sirens could be going off, trees could be falling all around us, and this kid would still be chatting away into his headset like a moron. That’s why, I was frankly shocked when he called me the other day and said that something was wrong with the house. It seems like the HVAC system wasn’t working, and he knew exactly when the AC breakdown happened, because he heard it all the way from his room. When I inspected the cooling system, sure enough, the cooling device was not operable. It still felt warm, so I believed my child’s timeline about the AC breakdown. However, I had to ask him how he possibly knew when the air quality control device broke. Was the AC really that loud during its death throes? Or was he actually up to something, fiddling with the HVAC system, and caused this AC failure? He told me that he was playing his video games like usual, when he thought he heard the air vent in his room let out a massive thud. He honestly wasn’t going to interrupt his game to tell me about the HVAC issue, except it started getting too hot in his room. That makes more sense.
