The landlord says I can’t touch it

He only used his respected HVAC technician, electrician, and personal handyman for repairs

Isn’t it so infuriating when you know you have the skills to get a job done but you aren’t given the chance? This comes up for me quite often at my day job, where they are continually trying to tackle biological issues but refuse to allow me, the prior biologist, to get involved with their troubleshooting. I just sit back and keep my mouth shut, listening to them spinning their wheels in place while I keep the answer in my back pocket. I try not to get frustrated anymore, because there’s no sense in feeling bitter about help that people won’t accept. The same thing is happening now, at my apartment, but I’m a bit less humored by it since my indoor air quality and sleep are being affected. You see, I live in a rental these days. About a week ago I noticed that the rental HVAC system was making some weird sounds. My air conditioning system was knocking in the middle of the night and the indoor air temperature was not staying very low. It seems like my air quality, in general, was suffering for several days. And then, the air conditioning system completely stopped working. Now, this wouldn’t be a problem at my house, because I know exactly how air conditioners work. I grew up around my dad who was a licensed HVAC technician, and I know a lot about repairing indoor air handling devices. However, when I signed the lease to live in this rental, my landlord made me swear that I would never touch the appliances if they broke down. He only used his respected HVAC technician, electrician, and personal handyman for repairs. Now, I’ve been sitting at home with untreated indoor air and a busted AC unit for 3 days, and I can’t get ahold of my landlord. I am getting pretty hot under the collar.
