With how dry my house gets in January, having a humidifier offers fast relief

There are a handful of absolutes that I can count on dealing with every winter season.

  • No matter what, I can expect up to a foot of snow on the ground from the beginning of the season until the very end.

We also tend to get temperatures below zero degrees many days throughout winter, often for weeks or more or at a time. That means I have to constantly wear adequately warm clothing, which includes a thick winter coat and heavy duty snow boots. One of the other environmental absolutes that coincides with this type of weather is dryness. As the temperature drops, so do the humidity levels. It’s not unheard of to get moisture levels well below 10%. When moisture levels can be far above 70% during warmer parts of the year, the excessive winter dryness can be extremely uncomfortable. You start to get cracks in the skin on your hands and in your lips. I suffered for years before someone cued me into using a humidifier. All it does is take a small tank of purified water and releases the water into the air as vapor. Before you know it, you can get the moisture levels to rise by considerable degrees. I don’t know I would function during the winter season without having a humidifier constantly within my grasp. My wife feels exactly as I do, we both hate having lips so chapped that nothing short of prescription chapstick will fix them. Best of all, humidifiers are relatively inexpensive and use very little electricity while they run around the clock. They’re a must have for me during our intense winter seasons.
