In my downtown office space, the heating and cooling costs are included in the monthly rent.
This is really good for us, because let me tell you, the office HVAC is terrible! I simply cannot figure it out! No matter what I set the thermostat on, it never is comfortable in my office.
I am either sweating because the heater is blowing, or I am freezing because the a/c is blowing. Even when I have the thermostat set to “system off,” there is still some kind of air always blowing out of the air vents. We got a young new intern in the office, and I have told him that if he can figure out the heating and cooling so that my office will be comfortable, he gets a bonus. I am not sure he believed me when I told him that, but I was totally serious. I don’t know if the thermostat is set to some weird settings or what, but I am tired of going from hot to cold all day long. I am hoping that when summer gets here, the outside temperature will not fluctuate so much, and then perhaps the HVAc will not be so confused about whether it should be turning on the heater or the a/c. What I really wish, though, is that my intern would figure it out for me. Supposedly, he is a whiz at all things technological, so it would be great if he could put all that so-called knowledge to work for our comfort.
