If you have not yet embraced the new, simple smart thermostat, you should consider doing so.
I got a smart thermostat about six months ago, and even though there have been temperature extremes this year, I have saved money on my heating and cooling costs.
My electric company provides yearly figures on the monthly bill for comparison’s sake, and since I installed a smart thermostat, I have saved about 30% on my heating and cooling bill. Our country is by far the biggest user of heating and cooling around the world, even though we do not have the biggest population, so anything we can do to save energy is a good idea. In addition to having reduced heating and cooling costs, I have noticed that my house always seems to be comfortable. I am not sure why or how that is happening, but it is. Apparently, the smart thermostat “learns” our heating and cooling habits, and it adjusts the temperature accordingly. Before I got the new thermostat, I used to adjust the settings by hand. Before I left for work in the morning, I would turn the air conditioning up to 78, and when I got home, I would turn the air conditioning setting down to 74. Then, right before I went to bed, I would set the thermostat for 70 degrees because I don’t like to be hot when I am sleeping. All that is fine until I forgot to do it. When I forgot, the house was being cooled to 70 degrees all day long even though no one was home. The smart thermostat has ended all that!
