It’s my turn for a road trip

Some of the fondest memories that my parents have of their time together, is their impromptu road trips.

I used to be so envious when they talked about how they would see an advertisement for a new adventure and they would hop in the car to go experience it.

Mom gets starry-eyed whenever she talks about their one adventure they took to the mountains. They lived in the desert where the air conditioning was a necessity. She said she could almost smell the snow that was on top of the distant mountains. One day she sat in the house staring out toward the mountains and dad told her to hop in the car. They took off to the mountains so she could go skiing. She used to tell me that it was so hot outside that without the air conditioning in the car, they would have never left the house. When they left it was almost 130 degrees. They stopped at a small hotel that offered excellent air conditioning and they spent the night watching television and ordering Chinese. They got in the morning and headed off to the mountains. Even before they got to their destination, they had to turn off the AC and turn on the heat. They ended up at a mountain lodge that had a fireplace in the middle of the great room. They had a room that had its own fireplace and they had their own HVAC system. I will soon be on my own road trip, with my own husband and I am excited.
