I’ve never given much thought into the filter that we put into our HVAC system.
I just buy the same one every month. It’s not the cheapest option but it’s also not the most expensive one either. I guess you could say it falls somewhere in the middle. Then, recently my HVAC system started acting up so I called out an HVAC repairman. He came out and told me, among other things, that I’m using the wrong air filter for my HVAC system. He suggested that I use a stronger air filter because the sort I’ve been using allows a great deal of dust to get into the HVAC system. That’s not good. The HVAC technician professionally cleaned my entire HVAC system and the cleaning cost me a pretty penny. Additionally, I bought the filter that the technician had for sale and had him install it. He also told me that my HVAC system needed some very expensive repair. However, I recently discovered that the filter the technician sold me has a lower rating than the filters I usually use does. Now I’m confused. I’m starting to worry that this technician may have just sold me a bill of goods and that I didn’t need an HVAC cleaning after all. I also wonder if it really needed such expensive repairs. Further research has told me that the filters I use are absolutely fine. The one that the technician sold me is questionable though. I don’t like this feeling that I have that I’ve been taken advantage of. Yes, my HVAC system works fine now but I am starting to doubt much of what that repairman told me.
