I get the picture that all of us are all being sold over the Christmas holidays. It’s all about the satisfaction of family, the coming together of loved ones and being caught up in that rare state of joy. Thing is, I also understand how much that image misses the mark more often than not. For sure, there is a special sensation in the air during Christmas. I like it and I find it in certainly soft, straight-forward moments. However, as far as all the coming together, sharing and family bliss goes, well not so much for me. It’s more of an uncomfortable tension that is amplified by way too much Heating, Ventilation plus A/C heating. I certainly purposefully live in the location I do. I grind our way through a brutal Summer to be able to like the best Winter I have ever experienced. The Heating, Ventilation plus A/C cooling of the Summer is over and I can open the windows. There is even pop on the porch in shorts and a long sleeved shirt. This is our ideal vision of the way to spend the holiday season. But again, that is not the way it easily turns out. Instead, I have to pack our vehicle with presents and hot clothes to travel to a temperature that I do everything in our power to avoid. The two of us go to the inlaws to stand around and embrace the Christmas tension. My mother inlaw keeps her home at a subtropical temperature. So, I am literally perspiring our way through the trip. I can’t go outside because the sweat will instantly freeze to our body. I like our wife certainly much and I will continue with this ritual as long as she feels it’s necessary. But, I sure do miss our sun at Christmas.
