I’m the kind of person who needs a fireplace during the holidays.
I love sitting by a fireplace to open gifts, read stories, and watch holiday movies when the temperatures outside are cold and snowy.
This past year, I was at my parents’ house over the Christmas break, and their gas fireplace was not working. Their oil furnace was working just fine, and so we had heating. That was good, but the fact that the gas fireplace wasn’t working made me feel like it wasn’t exactly time for Christmas. I just love sitting by the gas fireplace or wood burning fireplace, though. It makes me feel relaxed and happy. There’s just something about sitting by a fireplace and hearing the crackling warm logs burning that makes me sleepy and cozy. In the house we live in now, there isn’t a fireplace at all and I hate not having one! I told my husband that for Christmas this year, I really wanted to get a fireplace installed. But when my husband called the HVAC company to ask about having either a gas fireplace or a wood burning fireplace installed, both of them were too expensive. Even though we don’t have a fireplace installation in the HVAC budget this year, I’m going to save up money with some energy savings tips I read about online and next year, we are definitely going to be installing some sort of fireplace before the holidays roll around. I told my husband that the fireplace can count as my Christmas, birthday, and anniversary present for next year!
