I had a bad problem with drugs for 3 years. I was in and out of rehab five times during that period. My parents did everything they could to get me to stop. It wasn’t until I ended up in the hospital, that I decided to quit. Unfortunately, I also ended up spending some time in jail. After you have spent time in jail, the job prospects can be very slim. I have been working at a temporary day labor place for the past 6 months. I have been clean the whole time, even when the days have been very difficult. I am living with my parents right now and they keep their eyes on me all the time. Some people would probably think that is overprotective, but I’m glad they are watching closely. It doesn’t give me any chance to mess up. I want to stay clean and eventually turned my life into something positive. Last week, I worked for the same place all five days. It was an HVAC product convention. They had me stocking shelves all week. The convention was all day on Saturday and Sunday and all of the following week. I stocked more HVAC products than I have ever seen in my life. They had shelves and shelves of dehumidifiers, air conditioners, furnaces, and ceiling fans. They had any type of heating and cooling product that you could name. I worked really hard all week and even caught the eye of one of the convention managers. He told me that they could use me next time they have a convention. I would make more money and possibly turn that into a full-time gig.
