My partner is always insisting that we need to buy a new gas furnace for our house, and granted, our gas furnace is in pretty bad condition! When we bought our house, the gas furnace was in pretty great shape.
It wasn’t a new gas furnace, but it was a working gas furnace, and the Heating and A/C company that checked the gas furnace before we bought the house confirmed that we would get a long life out of this gas furnace if we had it checked regularly by any of the local Heating and A/C company.
When we bought the house we bought annual inspections for our gas furnace and left it up to them. However, in the last few years, the gas furnace has been giving us much more trouble. It isn’t like our gas furnace is dying, but it is absolutely not running and it was when I first bought it. I talked with the Heating and A/C company, and they assured me that we could at least get a few more years out of the gas furnace without investing too much money into it. I told my partner what the Heating and A/C company told me, but he insisted that he knew that the or the Heating and A/C company. His only reasoning was that he had a bad feeling about our gas furnace. I would happily purchase a new gas furnace to make him feel better, but heating systems are expensive, and I really don’t want to drain our savings right now to buy a new gas furnace that we might not need for a few years.
