My wife is absolutely insisting that we need to purchase a new furnace for our house. Granted, our furnace is in pretty bad condition. When we purchased our house, the furnace was in pretty good shape. It wasn’t a new furnace, but it definitely was a working furnace, and the HVAC technician that inspected the furnace before we purchased the house confirmed that we would get a long life out of this furnace is we had it serviced regularly by any of the local HVAC technicians. When we bought the house, we scheduled annual inspections for our furnace and left it up to then. However, in the last few years, the furnace has been giving us much more trouble. It isn’t like our furnace is dying, but it is definitely not running as well as it was when I first bought it. I talked with the HVAC technician, and he assured me that we could at least get a few more years out of the furnace without investing too much money into it. I told my wife what the HVAC technician told me, but she insisted that she knew that the furnace was going to stop working this year. She had no good reason for doubting me nor the HVAC technician. Her only reasoning was that she had a bad feeling about our furnace. I would happily purchase a new furnace to make her feel better, but furnaces are expensive, and I really don’t want to drain our savings right now to purchase a new furnace that we might not need for a few years.
