The university I labor for underwent a lot of renovations recently… All the carpet was ripped out plus replaced, the walls were repainted, plus a lot of the classrooms were shifted around! I was once in a small classroom with no window, but after the renovations, I was moved to a larger classroom with windows that let in ample sunlight; The sunlight, current carpet, plus the freshly painted walls have been excellent, but the best feature about my current classroom is the thermostat, however my old classroom didn’t have a thermostat, so I could never control the temperature.
Add the fact that there were no windows plus I was constantly chilly. The walls were stone plus it felt like I was underground all the time, even when I wasn’t. The current windows in my classroom have been superb because the sunshine adds a lot of natural warmth to the space, then with that but, I find myself getting overheated. Thankfully, I have control over the temperature with my easily own thermostat. The thermostat is mounted right behind my desk, so there’s no risk of any student changing it. The university does have some restrictions about what I can set the temperature as, but I’m glad to stay within those regulations… Now, I’m never too overheated or too chilly plus I’m much more comfortable doing my task. I pity the teacher who had to transfer into my old room with no windows plus no control over the temperature. If she sticks it out long enough, maybe she can upgrade after a few years.
