Upon graduating from university, I accepted my dream job within a massive city.
I was so excited about my new career, but I was a little stressed out about the living arrangements. The company was giving me one month to find an apartment, which I thought would be plenty of time. However, after spending two weeks touring a bunch of different apartments, I realized that it was going to be a lot more competitive than I was expecting. I had a long list of requirements for my new place, but nothing within my budget had everything. I had to sacrifice quite a few things such as laundry and AC. The building provided heat, but there was no AC. I didn’t think the lack of AC would bother me too much, but it actually proved to be a big issue. The small apartment was claustrophobic and the tiny window didn’t provide enough airflow to cool down the space naturally. During the summer months, I found myself waking up in the middle of the night sweating. I considered getting a portable fan, but there wasn’t enough floor space for it. Instead, I bought a window AC unit to fit in the tiny window. It was noisy and big, but it cooled my small apartment with ease. I could overlook the noise as long as it wasn’t taking up valuable real estate or costing me a fortune to run.The window AC unit was the best way to cool my city apartment efficiently.
