At first, my trip into the forrest was a much needed split from the way I was living my life.
- I had my sights set on success from a absolutely young age, then growing up in a household where there was little other that food and shelter pushed me from a young age.
My folks did there best but were also slaves to substance abuse. Our household didn’t have central air conditioning or anything like that. I remember what a immense deal it was when I was in junior high and my good friend and I got a window air conditioning component for downstairs. That was such a immense deal, and living like that got me so motivated to excel and achieve so I would not have to go without stuff ever again. But that’s a double edge sword as it turns out. Indeed, I got myself into a fantastic school where I spent four years with unrelenting radiant heat during the Winter. Once I had my degree, I got the job I wanted inside the posh commercial Heating and A/C of a fancy downtown building. And man, did I ever get after it. Achieving success was the only thing I was interested in and that lasted for 15 years. Then, I woke up one day to find that I had nothing else to show for my life other than all that work and subsequent trappings of wealth. Immediately, I took a sabbatical and headed for the woods on a fantastic adventure into nature. Turns out, I didn’t want to go back. I ended up buying house and building a two entryway cabin. I’m back to the simple life but at least I have ductless heat pumps to deliver the quality heating and air that I’d always wanted.
