I remember when my buddy first moved into his home and how excited he was.
- His home, right by the sea, is ideal and would make most people jealous.
He has very nice wooden flooring and plenty of space. He couldn’t believe his luck when he found the place, and kept telling me how happy he was with his new home. However, he soon realized his energy bills were sky-high. Initially, he was unaware of energy-saving tips and continued to crank up his HVAC system to stay comfortable during the hot and cold seasons. I remember in the summer when I wanted to visit, his air conditioner was always set too high. He even left it running when he was not in, so his home was at an ideal temperature when he returned. His heating and cooling systems consumed an insane amount of energy, and was the beginning of his financial downfall. Not only were his energy bills immense, but so were his HVAC maintenance bills. He did not replace his furnace filter regularly, and this caused his furnace to break down. He also had many other problems with his HVAC equipment due to a lack of maintenance. Once, his heating system broke down in the middle of winter, and was left without heat. He had to call a repairman, who charged him a lot to fix the problem. Eventually, my buddy learned his lesson, started following energy-saving tips, and replaced his old heating system with a more efficient one. He stopped using his air conditioning so much during the summer and signed up for a regular HVAC maintenance plan. After these changes were made, his energy bills were more manageable, and he was able to recover from his financial downfall.
