I was eager for the weekend to start so that I could leave the house, the office and unwind for a while. Finally, Friday and the day was beautiful. I made sure that my phone was fully charged, my toothbrush tucked away in my suitcase, and I was prepared to leave! I had everything ready to go in my suitcase to head off. Although I didn’t have a plan, I was aware that this weekend I needed to break from my routine. I believed that trying out some new restaurants and getting away from it all would be wonderful. The weekend went by too quickly, and before I knew it, it was Sunday night and I was back at home. As I rolled into the driveway, something about the fogged-up windows caught my attention. I hesitantly opened the door to my house and was greeted by a wave of intense heat. The shockingly high indoor temperature was 85 degrees! What is the source of this? It seems I forgot to turn off the heater when I rushed out for the weekend. Despite the fact that it was relatively warm while I was away, the heater had been running nonstop for three days. The heat inside the house was awful, and a few things appeared to be melting. I quickly turned down the dial thermostat and flung open the windows in the hopes of bringing in some much-needed coolness. In order to prevent further occurrences, it was clear that I needed to exercise greater caution. So I invested in a smart thermostat that should be able to stop situations like this from happening again.
