I’m not one to complain, but poor ventilation on public transport is one thing that does get on my nerves.
As a daily commuter, I like to travel comfortably at a nice temperature.
I don’t ask much—not too hot, not too cold. That’s all. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. Last night, I boarded a train and immediately felt overwhelmed by the heat. The HVAC was set too high, and there was no ventilation. It was stifling, and I could feel myself sweating and getting drowsy. It didn’t help that the train was packed; this just made the commute even more uncomfortable. Surely they made a mistake with the heating system, because the weather didn’t require such a high temperature. It’s clear to me that the public transportation system needs to prioritize quality HVAC service to ensure that commuters are not subjected to discomfort. I have recently been looking into heating and cooling devices for my own home, and have found that ductless mini-split or zoned HVAC systems work great at providing good climate-control with improved energy efficiency. Public transportation isn’t the only place where this happens; I also find that in supermarkets and offices, the HVAC systems are often set too high. This is a health hazard also, because this creates a sharp contrast between indoor and outdoor temperatures, which can cause a number of negative health effects, such as dry skin, fatigue, headaches, and colds. In conclusion, I think it’s important to hire quality HVAC technicians and companies to provide us with the right HVAC systems and setups to ensure commuter comfort.
