I’ve found it so fascinating that my lifestyle changes have made me more proactive about other things. I’ve been undergoing a bit of a transformation over the last two years. It was killing me to kneel inside the central air conditioner comfort of my own home, eating and drinking. There was no doubt that my health was in jeopardy, and I needed to make some changes. The first thing I did was get out of that central air conditioner. Instead of sitting in my chair after work, I changed and went for a walk. That was the best thing I could have done. I didn’t run out and attempt suicide inside a gym’s commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. And I didn’t fall for a bunch of fad diets that I would abandon in two weeks. Instead, I decided to take it one step at a time. The walking came first, followed by dietary changes. It progressed from there. After about a year, I had lost more than fifty pounds. That was fantastic for my health, and I’m glad I chose to be honest about my health. But it also led to me doing things like winterizing the house for the first time. Because I was feeling great and active, I decided to follow the recommendations of the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C company and seal up my home. As our winter comes to an end, the results are in. And, thanks to the planning we did in the early fall, we saved nearly 20% on heating costs this year.
