At least Bernard won’t be going north again for the holidays.
He isn’t happy that it came to that but sometimes enough is just enough. Since he’s been married to Fiona, they have gone up north to her parent’s cabin for Christmas. Benard hates going north in the winter time for obvious reasons. He goes through a blistering Summer with all sorts of air conditioners just to like the winter. And yet, he takes an entire month of his limited down time to go up north during the best time of year at home. Benard has been stewing on this for some time, but he is also the sort of guy who always tries to make the best of things. Plus, it’s Fiona’s family and he’d do anything for her. But Christmas trip 10 will be the last time. Her mom rules the roost in her cabin with an iron fist. And just a few afternoons into their trip, she went ballistic on Bernard for asking to lower the control unit a bit. She keeps that cabin so hot in the winter time that he is dripping with sweat if he isn’t wearing anything more than underwear. Well, she completely freaked out at the suggestion that he was uncomfortable. And it went downhill from there. Bernard and Fiona got through Christmas day and ended up leaving a day early. On the way home, he just broke it down to his wife that he won’t be going back. It wasn’t so much a discussion as it was a declaration on his part. So Christmas going forward is going to be awesome. Bernard will be in the sun with sizzling temperatures and enjoying his own control unit any way he wants it. But mostly, the heat pump is simply off during winter time and that’s fantastic for him.
