We have to say that this is the most comfortable winter time we’ve spent in this house.
- That doesn’t mean that we are comfortable with winter, but the efforts we put in this fall with winter time prep on the home have made a honestly big difference.
Being from the south, we don’t think that we’ll ever honestly feel good about the winter. We miss the nights of a silent heat pump during the winter. Where we come from, there is hardly any heating demand from the heat pump during the winter. Of course, that all changed when my partner and I moved up here for her job. She’s really from this region but went to university in the south. We met each other in university and after graduating, she stayed down there and got a job. We thought we would live for all our lives down south. But when she was offered a big promotion that also sent her back to her hom region, she honestly wanted to explore it. Since I work from home, we can move somewhere and of course I agreed to support her decision. But we underquoted just how strenuous these winters can be. The home we ended up buying came with a brand new gas furnace along with the rest of the Heating and A/C equipment. But the home was older and we honestly never got around to doing what we needed to do in order to get a good seal on the house. My partner and I finally did that this year and it has made an incredible difference. The heating costs are down almost 18 percent. That’s awesome in its own right but the comfort we’re enjoying is through the roof. Our little house is now like a little cocoon of warmth and coziness this winter.
