Our office building is getting an AC upgrade

When you’re renting out space in a commercial building, you’ve got to remember that your landlord is the building owner.

And if you work for the company running the space out, you can’t get mad at your boss for things that are to blame by the building landlord himself.

For instance, we can’t get new windows unless the building manager decides to install them. The current ones leak air and feel really hot in the summer. On top of that, there are issues outside the building as well. Our parking lot needed to be repaved right after we moved in. There were so many cracks in the pavement and it was only getting worse as we started to use it on a daily basis. That’s why I tell my coworkers to direct their anger at the person who owns the building instead of our boss who merely rents it. He has expressed interest in moving our office to a different location, but he’s worried about messing up anyone’s commuting routine. Well a change in location would help some, it would Hinder others. Additionally, he said that the building owner intends on replacing the air conditioning system soon. This is one of the most prevalent issues that we’ve faced the entire time we’ve been in this building. While the heating system seems to be okay in the winter, the Summers get really hot outside and the air conditioners are not adequate at keeping up with the heat. We complained several years ago, but the building owner claimed the air conditioners were working well enough. I think it was because one of his other tenants in the building left after they expressed similar concerns. Instead of losing all of his tenants, he bit the bullet and decided to schedule an HVAC upgrade instead.
