No one believed me about the fireplace chimney.

I kept telling my husband that there was what sounded like popping popcorn in the chimney.

I was smelling burning sugar all day long.

He thought I was crazy because he never noticed anything. I told my brother about the fireplace and the chimney, but he said the same thing. No one believed me about the fireplace chimney and I was beginning to wonder if I wasn’t going crazy. My husband got home early one day and he came out into the kitchen. He wanted to know what the smell was, and why there was popping in the chimney. I clapped my hands and gave him a hug while thanking him for letting me know I wasn’t going crazy. He asked what I meant and I told him I had been trying to talk to him about the fireplace and the chimney for the last two weeks. I was wondering if there hadn’t been a nest of honeybees in the chimney because of the smell of burnt sugar. My husband wanted to let the fireplace burn out, but I wasn’t sure if we should do that either. He called the HVAC company that gave him the number of a fireplace expert who could look up the chimney and tell him what was going on. The next day, the fireplace man was at the house, and he wanted to know why we hadn’t let the fire go out before he got there. When my husband got home, I was going to rip into him. I asked him if we should let the fireplace get cold, and he insisted it wasn’t necessary.
