Even when I was a young child, I always knew that I wanted to help the world in some way.
The only problem was, I wasn’t sure how.
I wasn’t very good at relating to people, nor was I smart enough to become a doctor. I briefly considered being a teacher, but I am too impatient to deal with disrespectful students. This left me stumped, and feeling a bit useless. I saw my future life as being stuck in an office working a 9 to 5 job, which sounded utterly miserable to me. I wanted to do something different, but what? Well, it wasn’t until I was in high school that I found out. When I was in high school, a HVAC technician came to our school, he was there to fix the school’s window A/C unit. Our school did not have the best HVAC technology, only a window air conditioner per room. But since our school was small, it didn’t matter that much. The A/C worker started to work on the HVAC unit, but was missing a tool. He asked me to grab the missing tool, since it was not too far off. I gave it to him and then watched in fascination behind him. I only watched for a few minutes before the teacher sent me back to my desk. But from then on, I wanted to become a HVAC worker. Everything with HVAC technology just clicked with me. Now years later as a fully certified A/C technician, I love to help people through repairing the heating and cooling systems. Maybe not as helpful as a doctor, but without functional HVAC machines your health would be at risk. I like to help people through the HVAC industry, even if the part I play is small.
