I have a half hour commute to work unless I run into traffic.
- If there is any kind of traffic, I could end up being in traffic for close to an hour.
I have taken to listening to motivational tapes while I am in my car. I am always trying to figure out how to get past my childhood and move on. I have this problem with my heating and air conditioning. I have a need to make sure I have ultimate comfort. I have learned that a lot of this comes from my being forced to be too cold in the winter and too warm in the summer. My father was strict about sticking to a budget even if it meant that we had to do without some of the most vital of comforts. He said that as long as we had coats and blankets, it didn’t hurt us to go without a little bit of heat. He would then set the thermostat to fifty-five degrees. In the summer, we got the same spiel, but he said that we had fans in the house and windows that opened. That’s all he had when he was a kid and that was good enough to not need to use the air conditioning. I have found that I am compensating for that loss now. I have to have my thermostat set to where my comfort is satisfied. I need to have air conditioning that makes me feel cool and my heating needs to feel like I am being wrapped in a warm and cozy blanket. Maybe someday I will grow out of it, but I really doubt that I will.
