I am currently teaching in the middle school; I can not believe how fast my students are growing up.
It undoubtedly seems like the other week that I was their age, doing the same thing, but a lot has changed since I was a student.
Just the other afternoon, our kids were doing the ELA modules. I got a booklet that told me what I was supposed to teach. It wasn’t the official things that I was used to as a kid, but the module stated that this week’s lesson is on heating plus air conditioner technology! I was a little confused on how Heating and Air Conditioning technology had anything to do with ELA class. But, the booklet went on to explain… apparently learning about HVAC gives science, reading skills and listening skills. So that all falls under the umbrella of ELA. The best example they were giving me about this was that radiant floors were discovered in reading. They said that it was undoubtedly rumored to have been a reading instructor doing an experiment that discovered how hot water pipes can be used as a form of heating. I had never heard about that in our life, but after all, they did say it was just a rumor. My students were so interested in heating plus air conditioner technology after this lesson, that they ended up going on the internet later at recess plus started looking up a lot of information on heating plus cooling via a google search. I totally thought this was pretty darn awesome to be honest.
