Checking the bill

I recently got the bill for the last heating and air conditioning service I got from the local HVAC company. I was pretty shocked to see it was as high as it was. So I ran to the phone, picked it up and called the local heating and cooling company to inquire about the bill and why it was higher than I expected. After placing me on a brief hold, they came back and found that there was a computer error. They said that they were going to issue me a new bill with the correct charge on it and I would not have to pay it until it arrived. This was good because I did not want to give them my credit card over the phone. A few weeks later I got the new bill with the correct charge on it and I sent them a check paying them what I owed. It just goes to show you that computers are not the perfect solution to everything. The world seems to rely on nothing but computers now days and it is kind of scary. As my bill ended up totally wrong, imagine would could happen if it something way more serious. This is why I believe in good old fashioned human communication with everything. Especially when it comes to billing! I own my own business and I do everything by hand just like the old days when it comes to anything having to do with money. The local heating and air conditioning company should start doing this too. That is my humble opinion.
