The winter months are always very cold and icy in this region.

My mom and dad were born in this area, and my sister and I were born in the same exact hospital that my parents were born in. Many of my friends look forward to graduating from high school and moving to a warmer climate. I can’t imagine leaving the area, even if the winter temperatures are icy and frigid. Last winter was one of the coldest on record. We had two weeks in a row of Sub-Zero temperatures. I’m hardly ever cold, but I had a hard time getting ready for work in the morning. There is a single window in the bathroom, but it creates a very cold draft. I decided to buy a small radiant heater. I went to the Super Store and found several different space heaters. I was intrigued by a small heater that plugs directly into the light socket. It’s only about 5 in tall and 4 in wide, but the small radiant heater puts out a lot of warmth. I turn on the radiant heater about 10 minutes before I get in the shower. With the door closed, the room is warm and toasty. Even if I leave the door wide open, the radiant heater still works great. I leave the heater running during my shower and turn it off when I hop out. This cuts down on the amount of warm moisture in the air. Ever since I purchased the radiant heater, I haven’t had much trouble waking up and getting ready for work. I just needed a warm place to get dressed.
