HVAC repair should be handled by a professional, but my dad thinks that he can take care of any problem that comes up in the house.
Ever since I was a kid, my dad has tried to fix all of the problems in the house.
When the kitchen faucet sprang a leak, my Dad tried to replace the faucet. Unfortunately, he broke one of the knobs and water started spraying all over the house. The entire bedroom was flooded. We had to run a dehumidifier for 5 days to get all of the moisture out of the hardwood floor. When my dad told me last weekend that he was going to take the gas furnace apart, I immediately pictured an explosion and that made me nervous. I told my dad that he should let a professional handle the furnace repair. My dad scoffed at the idea of calling a professional when he had the day off and 10 different videos downloaded from youtube. I knew it was going to be difficult to talk my dad into calling a professional, so I decided to help him with the repair. When I was there and the two of us were working on the furnace together, my dad realized that we needed to call someone else. We were in way over our heads and he could not hide it when I was standing right there next to him. I told my dad that I would make the phone call if he looked up a couple of different places. I also offered to pay for the repair if he didn’t have any money.
