It’s mid August so that means that we are on the back side of heat season.
And that doesn’t hurt my feelings one bit. I love where I live for sure but it comes with a price. That price is paid from June through September by way of big time heat and humidity. Of course, I have the requisite residential HVAC to help me manage this sort oh heat. Without the heat pump, I’d be in big trouble. Well actually, I’d be back up north where I came from. Moving down here was something I had always wanted to do since the days when we visited the region on vacations. I mean how cool would it be to live where I vacationed? That was the thought for all those years. When I finally got the chance thanks to a transfer, I jumped at it. Of course, I didn’t come into this situation naive about the summer. Still, I really have wanted to ease up on all the air conditioning for a couple of reasons. First, the utility bills in the summer were getting out of hand due to the HVAC equipment running nearly non stop. Secondly, I felt that all that air conditioning was allowing me to just sort of get accustomed to the heat. So I took the advice of a friend who is native to the region and I didn’t turn on the air conditioning at all til into May. It did the trick as my body was able to acclimate more to the heat and I just found a bit of acceptance as well. So the thermostat setting has been consistently higher all summer and it’s made such a huge difference when it came to both of my concerns.
