The snow made it so cold that we went home and turned on the radiant flooring

Despite it being winter already, I still try to take my family out on trips during the weekends.

  • It’s nice to finally come home and feel some peace from the stressors of work, especially if you can have fun with your family on outings at the same time.

We live in the north and deal with frigid conditions every year after the leaves change and the winter onslaught begins again. I should be used to the snow and the frost bite on my face, but part of me never will even if we stay here until the end of my life. While it would be easy to stay at home and be lazy in the living room with the television on all day, my wife encourages me to accompany her and the children on these outings as long as we find places indoors with a furnace running. Last week we went to an indoor, heated swimming pool, but this week I decided to roll the dice and take the children to a mini golf course because there wasn’t any snow in the weather forecast. I kept checking for updates throughout the week, but on Friday morning I woke up and there was simply a small layer of frost on the ground outside. By lunchtime, the sun had melted the frost and the bare ground was exposed. The weather changed later that evening, and somehow while we slept there was a blizzard that deposited a foot of snow on the ground. But the snowstorm also brought 0 degree temperatures, and it ended up being too cold to stay outside so I brought the family back home and turned on the radiant heated flooring so we could get warm again.
