Rethinking air conditioning expense

Seems like we are getting more and more comfortable with retirement.

Perhaps we went into this chapter of our lives with some expectations that weren’t so realistic.

It’s as though simply leaving the zone controlled HVAC of my office was all I had to do. That was tough enough because I loved the air conditioning along with all the other amenities of that office. Plus, I helped build that company into what it is now. But for sure, it was time for someone else to take my place and time for me to relax after a pretty stellar career. But I was so focused on just the leaving my job part that I sort of didn’t pay enough attention at what a change we were going to experience. Simply upgrading the HVAC equipment and getting the house sold was tough. Then, we had to go through more than 30 years worth of accumulated stuff in order to pare down. We moved south to the sun and the air conditioning but we only had a smaller 2 bedroom condo so we had to give away a bunch of stuff. However, it was the heat and humidity down here that really hit me the first few years. I love the rest of the year but the summer led me to be inside with the air conditioning on all the time. So as we entered our third spring, I decided to wait on flipping the thermostat over to HVAC cooling. Instead, my wife and I are getting more acclimated to the heat. This will help with the big cost of HVAC cooling and help us accept the heat and move on.
