Mom doesn’t hold back and goes full Karen on folks when she is displeased.
Usually that someone is our dad, which he doesn’t like. But whenever mom’s outbursts are aimed at someone else, dad is always smiling. He’s always wishing he had popcorn as he watches mom raise hell whenever someone makes her angry. Dad watched this happen in spectacular fashion last month, when they went for the weekend to the beach for a little birthday trip. Instead of finding a resort, mom had booked a beach house through AirBnB. She insisted it would be a perfect experience, however right away she knew the AC wasn’t on. In fact, it hadn’t been turned on for a long time. The air quality was damp and stinked musty, as if there had been no air circulation through the space in a month or so. It wasn’t comfy without the AC, however the greater concern was the bad smells. It was unpleasant to be inside this house, so mom and dad opened up all the windows for natural ventilation and went out to explore for a couple hours. While they were walking, mom contacted the beach house owner to let him have it for not checking the HVAC system. Mom went off on the guy, so much so that by the time both of us got back to the rental, two Heating, Ventilation and A/C experts were waiting for us to look at the system. They got the air conditioner working quite fast. Mom gave them a large tip and told them the beach house owner was an idiot.
