Before we sold our last home, I had a friend help me build a new room in the attic space. The room was enormous and I knew it would be attractive to future buyers of our home. My buddy was asking if I wanted to have the ductwork extended into the room and I had to think about that. I thought that perhaps the HVAC unit was not large enough to handle the additional room in the attic space. I didn’t want the HVAC system to malfunction just because it suddenly had a much larger workload to deal with. So instead of extending the ductwork into the room, I decided to have a ductless mini split installed, which my buddy helped with that installation. It actually wasn’t that costly to have a single zone ductless mini split installed, and it wasn’t even too much work for the installation. But it’s really nice in that room because the ductless mini split keeps it perfectly cozy all the time. It used to be severely overheated in the attic space in the summer, and brutally frosty in the winter months. Now, it’s so cozy, especially because we insulated the attic very well. We made sure there was no spot that was left without a suitable amount of insulation and that easily became the best room in the house. When we eventually sold the house, we sold it for twice as much as we paid for the place. Isn’t that amazing? That new room in the attic and the ductless mini split install truly raised the value of the house for sure!
