When my wife was saying that the laundry room always overheated when she was doing laundry, she believed there was something wrong with the ductwork.
She thought the heating from the ductwork was flooding the laundry room and possibly that was the reason for the spike in the energy bills.
Still, I said that couldn’t be the case because this only seemed to happen while she was doing laundry. I said it might actually be the duct connected to the dryer that was the problem. My wife said she didn’t think about that, but before calling some HVAC experts, I was going to be sure to check. Sure enough, when I pulled out the dryer, the duct had fallen off and wasn’t even connected to the back of the dryer! That meant that all that overheated air was easily filling the room whenever the dryer was being used. I could see why my wife thought it might be an issue with the HVAC system, but you have to be sure before concluding that you need an HVAC professional. Housecalls are rather expensive. Even if the HVAC expert comes out and there is no problem, you still have to pay the money! This basically would have been the case, but I suppose I could have had the HVAC pro make sure there were no issues with the HVAC system. Or maybe I could have had him install a new smart thermostat because I have been meaning to invest in one of those. I hear nothing but great things about smart thermostats.
