When I started my own cafe, I sat in different spots to get an idea how the customers felt about the comfort in the building.
It didn’t take long for me to figure out that the temperatures were uneven and I would have to do something about the HVAC system. Some spots didn’t feel comfortable at all. I had an HVAC expert come out and I wanted to know what heating and cooling solutions he could bring to the table. He was saying it would actually be a good idea to install a zoned HVAC system where I could have customized temperature control settings in different areas. He said if I didn’t want to do that, it might be a good idea to have the HVAC system upgraded since the one in the building was very old and not especially energy efficient. The new HVAC upgrade was expensive, but I decided to go for it because this particular commercial HVAC upgrade came with a free UV air purification system. I thought that was a pretty nice promotion that was going on with this HVAC company. So after the new HVAC was installed, I made sure the insulation was upgraded in the building. With the new HVAC and the insulation, suddenly the cafe felt comfortable no matter where you happened to be in the building. I did have to admit, it would have been nice having customized temperature control in different areas, but I’m really satisfied with the comfort in the whole place. Also, the air quality has improved immensely thanks to the UV air purification system.
