You don’t need to talk down to me.

Once people become professionals, I suppose they suddenly forget what it was like before they had all their training.

  • If others don’t have the same training, they try to dumb themselves down and it comes out sounding condescending.

I can’t stand it when people do this. My brother had gone to college for Heating, Ventilation plus A/C design and contracting. He was an excellent Heating, Ventilation plus A/C worker and he would come to the home and labor on our Heating, Ventilation plus A/C system whenever I had a problem. Since I studied with him, he could tell myself and others what was going on and what needed to be repaired, and I understood everything he was saying. Once he took college classes for engineering, he treated myself and others like I wasn’t as smart as he was. I raised him, and I could not understand why he was treating myself and others like a child. The last time he was at our house, he was telling myself and others that I needed a current Heating, Ventilation plus A/C system. I was already aware that this was a opportunity, and all I wanted was for him to tell myself and others about the weird Heating, Ventilation plus A/C component that was now available. He began talking down to myself and others like I was a child and incapable of understanding. I got so annoyed that I yelled at him. Even when every one of us were younger, I never yelled at him. I was patient and typically tried to understand how he felt. I knew what Heating, Ventilation plus A/C was and how it worked, and all I wanted was to know about current equipment. If he hadn’t talked to myself and others like an equal, I was going to throw him out of our house. He understood what I was saying.
