Last year when my sister got a big promotion at work, she ended up having to buy a house without even checking it out in person.
When she told me that she was doing this, I thought it was the craziest thing that I had ever heard of.
I had never even heard of a person purchasing a huge purchase like a home without at least seeing it first! But my sister did not think it was a very big deal. She had hired a realtor who specialized in that kind of thing and she felt pretty comfortable about purchasing the home. She told me that the only thing that she was actually really concerned about was that kind of heating and cooling system that was going to be in the house. She knew for a fact that she did not want a boiler system as her main source of heating because she is scared of those. Apparently a lot of houses in the area where she was moving to have boiler systems as their main heating source so she wanted to be sure that that did not happen to her! She told the realtor that she wanted a high efficiency heating and cooling system and that she would love to have a UV light air purification system in the house too. But other than that, the only thing that she really wanted to have was a fireplace of some sort. She said that she didn’t care if it was a wood burning fireplace or a gas log fireplace. In the end, my sister ended up getting a house with everything that she wanted. She is loving it there.
