When I first met my daughter’s husband, I didn’t see him as my type of guy.
He was a little bit of a pretty boy, if you know what I mean. I am a man’s man and I like to work with my hands. He is the kind of guy that would rather sit at a desk and learn things from behind a book. When I tried to connect with him about the heating and cooling industry, which I run my business in, he really didn’t have much to say. He joked about how he never did well with hands-on learning. A few years down the road, and he is now working for my heating and cooling business as a serviceman. How did that happen? Well, he married my daughter and the guy started to grow on me. When his office job laid him off, the guy was down on his luck and wasn’t sure what was next for him. I saw some potential in the kid, so I offered to train him to come work for the heating and cooling business I run. It was easy for him to figure out what was wrong with the Heating and Air Conditioning unit, but he was so uncoordinated that he honestly could not figure out how to do anything with the Heating and Air Conditioning unit. I knew that it would be hard teachinghim how to be a Heating and Air Conditioning professional, even though I knew that he would be able to figure it out. I am cheerful that he let me show him the ropes of becoming a Heating and Air Conditioning professional because he didn’t think that he would succeed. He may not look like a Heating and Air Conditioning professional, and he may not seem like the regular fit as a Heating and Air Conditioning professional, but he does good work and I think he’s happy he made the career change.
