How my HVAC system became clogged

My yard has a bunch of trees in it.

  • This was never really something I’d given much thought to until I had something happen I didn’t think was possible.

It was a normal day and I was sitting on my couch watching some TV trying to relax after working and I realized that it was getting kind of hot in the house and so I decided to go and turn on the AC system to cool myself down. I pressed the button on the remote in the app to program the thermostat to cool down and nothing happened. At first I was thinking of finishing with the app, I have a smart thermostat and I can control my heating AC system with my phone. So when nothing happened I figured my app was probably just glitching. With reluctance, I got up to go and change the temperature by going up to the thermostat itself. However, I tried to lower the temperature in the house. It didn’t work on the thermostat either. I can hear the sound of the AC system attempting to turn on but then quickly shutting off. I knew something was wrong and I was confused. Not wanting to wait to find out, I called my local heating and AC business and asked them to send a cooling specialist out to take care of the issue. When the heating and cooling repairman made his way out to my home it did not take him long to identify the source of the problem. He informed me last several large limbs had fallen all over my heating and AC system and had closed it. Some of the smaller limbs that actually managed to get inside of the heating and cooling system and had completely jammed it. After turning off the heating and AC system the HVAC technician removed all the branches and debris, the heating and AC unit was then thoroughly cleaned and it was then turned back on. That was the cause of the issue, the clog, once it was unclogged it worked like new again and I could enjoy my wonderful AC.
