Living in the northern area of the country, the freezing weather arrives in early September and lingers until the end of April.
Our Summer season is seriously brief, however there’s no need for central cooling system… However, the two of us endure un-even temperatures in the mid eighties and high humidity.
The cabin quickly becomes tepid and sticky… Since our family is eager to get outside and appreciate the sunny weather, it’s not a concern while I was in the day. The only time the tepid and humid conditions are a concern is at night. It’s impossible to sleep. Open windows and box fans aren’t satisfactory. The perfect solution for our local weather conditions is window cooling systems, an effective window unit can be purchased for under multiple hundred dollars. They are available at the local lake cabin improvement store. There are quite a few choices for makes, models and sizes. The installation is seriously easy. The units are compact, lightweight and actually set into the window. All I need to do is plug in the cord and start it up. Despite the small size, modern window cooling systems are quite powerful. A greater family room is cooled down within a few minutes. The cooling systems are energy efficient, and since the two of us only run them at night, they cost little to operate. Each 1 includes a cordless remote that allows adjustment of temperature and fan speed without even getting out of bed. Having the separate unit also lets each family personalize the temperature of their family room. At the end of the summer, I carry the cooling systems up to the attic for storage.
