My Cat Loves My Fireplace

I can’t tell who loves my fireplace more: me, or my cat.

In hindsight, it should not have surprised me in the slightest that my cat now seems to be in love with my fireplace. He loves warm spaces, as most cats do, and even seems to get grumpy when my heating is bad. However, I had no idea that my cat would love my fireplace this much. When we moved into our new home, which happened to have a fireplace, my cat was a bit apprehensive at first. He didn’t like the sound of the logs burning, he didn’t like its large imposing stature, and by the looks of things he didn’t like the smell of the burning wood, either. As time went on, though, I noticed that he started to warm up more and more to our fireplace. My cat would join me when I sat in front of the fireplace to read, cuddling up to my side and purring softly. Eventually he gained the courage to go closer and closer to the fireplace, curiously taking in the new warmth, and then fully basking in it as though it was like rays from the sun. He would stretch out in front of the fireplace and soak up as much warmth as his little heart desired, seeking solace from the cold and chilly autumn weather that was going on outside. It became a part of his daily routine to soak up the warmth coming from the fireplace every evening after I would give him his dinner, and he seemed to be very, very pleased with it.
