My brother and I were really close before we went off to separate schools.
We used to fight like cats and dogs when we lived at home, but once we started moving out, we found out that we were losing our best friend. Every year, we have always given each other birthday presents, but the one I got this year was completely unexpected. I was used to stupid cards that had a couple of bucks in it and always the statement to have one on him. We had been talking about the heatwave in the city, a couple of weeks ago. I told him I had never been so uncomfortable as I was in the dorm. It seemed that all of the heat and humidity just seemed to settle in my dorm apartment and I couldn’t get comfortable. When the neighbor knocked on my doorI just told him to slide the mail under the door. He told me it was a package. I was shocked to see that it was from my brother. When I opened the package, I began to laugh because there was a brand new portable air conditioning unit. He sent a card inside the box that said it was to keep me cool so I didn’t take my temper out on him when he came to visit. My brother had never visited, but I knew the AC was going to come to use. For three days, I had the AC unit running in my bedroom. I couldn’t believe how well the air conditioner worked. That weekend, I got a knock on my door. No one answered when I asked who it was. I peeked out the hole only to see a sign asking about the air conditioner.
