It is a painful experience to watch as someone carries away something you toiled to buy.
Such was my experience one night when I came home late from work.
I had no idea what was happening, but the noises in the backyard startled me. Fearfully, I locked the front door and rushed back to the kitchen side to see what was happening. Unfortunately, I was too late as I watched the HVAC bandits pack my outdoor AC into the back of their van and speed away. It appears they had been here long enough and had all the time to unmount the AC and remove it without destroying anything else. I tried to call the security company to trace the thieves, but this did not work. The following day, I called my workplace and reported that I would not be working as I had an emergency I needed to take care of. I planned to visit the estate manager to report the incident. To my shock, I was not the only one as there seemed to have been a coordinated AC and furnace theft last night. When I inquired more, it appears as though this group was used to doing this in the neighborhood. There were many claims for the past two months, and for some reason, the security never seemed to catch the thieves. This was very disturbing because we did not know what would be next once the thieves were done stealing HVAC units. Should we be worried that they may attack us when we sleep? Such revelations left most of the residents seeking a crucial meeting to chart a way forward for all the estate dwellers.
