Recently we finished a major part of that by putting in heating and cooling equipment
I hate that I lost my job and with it, a great deal of my newfound independence. I’m just a few years into my first job after college. That job was a good one and even directly related to my degree and my passion. But thanks to Covid, that cubicle in the zone controlled HVAC of that office is gone. Like most other businesses, Covid brought with it layoffs and payroll reductions. And like many before me, the last ones in are normally the first ones out. That held true in my situation. This also meant that I had to let go of my apartment and the not so great heating and cooling I had there. This was tough to do as I really liked being out on my own, living my own life. But fortunately, I had a soft landing at my parents place. They are super kind to have opened up their home to me in my time of need. And I tried to give back by helping my dad finally complete the basement project he’d be laboring at for years. Now that he’s retired and with a second set of hands, the basement is getting finished off into a really nice apartment. Recently we finished a major part of that by putting in heating and cooling equipment. Well actually, we called the HVAC company and they sent out an HVAC technician who took care of the installation. The basement now has a pair of ductless heat pumps and is completely independent of the rest of the house. It turned out great and who knows, maybe they can rent it out in the future to people like me.
